"The barn is cool and quiet as a little girl tentatively approaches a big chestnut horse whinnying from his stall. His handler speaks softly to him and tells the girl not to be afraid, that it’s time to get acquainted. She laughs as the horse twitches his mouth into what looks like a lopsided grin. The bond between animals and children can be powerful and healing.

The SonRise Mission

SonRise Equestrian Foundation is a non-profit organization making a positive difference for children ages 8 to 18 living with social, emotional, or physical challenges including terminal illness.

Participating children develop confidence, integrity and responsibility through mentoring and peer relationships centered on the care and enjoyment of horses.
