About SonRise
SonRise Equestrian Foundation offers
children life-changing experiences through mentoring and peer relationships
centered on the care and enjoyment of horses.
Our
children come to us with physical, developmental, social, or emotional
challenges, and some are facing terminal illness. On any given day we may work
with children dealing with autism, cerebral palsy, severe depression, or those
struggling with instability in the home. We also work with children in the youth
welfare system who may be struggling with emotional challenges or special needs.
Whatever the challenge, our mission is to help these children thrive through the
benefits of our therapeutic horsemanship programs.
Centrally located in Castro Valley, we serve children ages 6-18 with a wide
variety of challenges including:

Lessons with our horses are personally tailored to accommodate the special needs
of our participants. Our staff nurtures each child through challenges and
victories, guiding them as they develop skills in relationship building, problem
solving, confidence, improved learning skills, physical fitness; as well as
trust, patience and integrity. Some children will always require assistance
while riding, while others will develop higher levels of horsemanship.
Regardless of individual needs, each child finds a loving and accepting
community through SonRise.
